What is a personal chef?

A personal chef is a chef who is hired by different clients and prepares meals in the clients’ home kitchens, based on their needs and preferences. The personal chef will create a customized meal plan, shop for all groceries, prepare the meal, and clean up the kitchen. The chef typically leaves prepared meals packaged in containers for the client to store in the refrigerator or freezer to enjoy later. The menu is preplanned and discussed with the client, then prepared in their home. According to health-department guidelines, all food must either be prepared in the home of the client or in a kitchen that has passed an official health inspection.


Can I just order one entree?

Unfortunately not, our personal chef and meal plan options are designed with your success in mind. If you're looking for just one entree it would still be provided at the full service cost so we suggest determining several entrees you'd like to try and incorporating that into your first week of service.


where are meals prepared?

Meals are prepped and prepared in the client's home kitchen. According to health-department guidelines, all food must either be prepared in the home of the client or in a kitchen that has passed an official health inspection.


How long will you be in my home?

Typically anywhere from and hour to two hours. This time frame allows for setup, preparation of the meals, storage and kitchen clean up.

When we're done your kitchen will be clean and healthy delicious options will be in your reach.


What will you store the food in?

In an effort to be as zero-waste as possible, all meals and snacks will be stored in glass dishes or mason jars. 

This will allow for extended shelf life, easy reheating, and less clutter.


Do I have to be home?

Whatever you're most comfortable with. Brooklyn Sweat is insured not only for our safety, but yours and that of your home.


How long will the food last & How often do I need the service?

Meals will last for a week to roughly two weeks, with a longer self life for freezing. All meals are prepared fresh on location and we only recommend freezing certain meals.  

Frequency is completely up to you, but maybe this chart can help you out:

1 week Per Month– You are a kitchen maverick! You already have prepare most of your meals in home planned but you need a little help during busy times.

2 weeks Per Month – You want to be responsible for some of your meals. You trust yourself to do a good amount of healthy cooking and also want some quick and easy meals throughout the month that you can replicate.

3 weeks Per Month (Recommended) – You are busy but you can still make time at least once a week to unwind and cook for yourself. Maybe not the Kitchen Maverick but you've been known to wow a healthy eater with your kitchen creations.

4 weeks Per Month –  What is a kitchen? You are busy and don’t want to cook any of your own meals. You want to eat clean with no room for error on your part.
